Hey there!

Welcome to our experiment in finding freedom and fulfillment through the pursuit of financial independence.  By all accounts, we are an ordinary family living the American dream; we’ve had unique careers, travel often, and are mostly happy folks. Like many first-time parents, the birth of our son forced us to take a closer look at the life we were living, at our finances, and the life we aspired to have in the future.  We’ve known for a while that we wanted to escape the commute, the traffic, and the 40 (often 60) hour work weeks.

We have settled on one clear and goal: work less and enjoy more freedom and choice about how we spend our time. To do this, well, we’ve focused on nurturing a flexible mindset and creating passive income that can sustain us for the long long term. We expect to reach our goal of financial independence and early retirement in our mid-40s. What you see on these pages is an attempt to document where we’ve been, where we are going, and some wisdom we’ve learned along the way.
